Maps are essential tools for planning activities across a wide range of sectors and disciplines. A common starting point for geographic analysis in Brazil is the country’s political-administrative division, which includes the Federative Units (States) (Figure 1) and other territorial units defined by IBGE, such as mesoregions, microregions, municipalities, districts, and census tracts.

While these geographic divisions are important, they do not necessarily reflect the operational reality of companies and institutions.
For example, the electric power sector often works with spatial divisions based on electrical networks and river basins. In agriculture, soil maps, climate data, and hydrographic information become fundamental elements for planning agricultural activities.
For commercially oriented companies, maps are also highly specific and closely related to marketing strategies and sales performance. Every company has its own history, customer base, and market presence; therefore, the geographic representation of its results is unique.
Representation of sales results
A map showing sales performance over recent years can help organizations understand this history and draw valuable conclusions about their markets and operations (Figure 2).

Sales territories
Sales performance is also closely linked to the organization of sales representatives and territories. For this reason, understanding and analyzing sales territory maps becomes essential (Figure 3).
Balanced sales territories can significantly improve commercial effectiveness, benefiting both the company and its sales team.

Sales territory maps can help organizations:
- Balance workloads among sales representatives.
- Improve market coverage.
- Identify growth opportunities.
- Monitor commercial performance geographically.
- Support strategic and operational planning.
- Optimize customer service and relationship management.
The importance of company-specific maps
Every organization should develop and maintain its own maps to support decision-making and communication with employees, managers, and customers.
Because markets, customers, and business conditions change rapidly, these maps should be updated regularly to ensure that they continue to reflect the current reality of the organization.
Whether used for sales management, marketing analysis, logistics planning, agriculture, utilities, or environmental studies, customized maps provide insights that cannot be obtained from tables and reports alone.
Every company has its own geography. Understanding that geography through maps is often the first step toward making better decisions and achieving better results.
Veja o artigo https://www.gismaps.com.br/gestao-da-equipe-de-vendas/ e o tutorial https://www.gismaps.com.br/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/Uso-do-Gismaps-Viewer-por-profissionais-de-Marketing-e-Vendas.pdf.
Sugiro você começar a gerar os mapas com os seus dados. Faça uma planilha com nome da cidade, estado, número de clientes, valor de vendas, vendedor etc. A partir disso já é possível fazer bons mapas. Posso ajudar você nessa tarefa.
